چکیده

Objectives: While return to sport (RTS) has been well studied in young athletes after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, there is a paucity of literature on RTS following reconstructive surgery for multi-ligament knee injury (MLKI). The purpose this study assess level MLKI 23 years old or younger at the time and evaluate factors associated with RTS. Methods: This was retrospective study. We identified 116 patients our Level 1 referral center who sustained an age younger. All underwent operative reconstruction. Patients were contacted via mail then completed surveys by telephone if willing participate. Our primary outcome variable self-reported ability their preoperative higher surgery. Secondary variables included 2000 International Knee Documentation Committee Subjective Form (2000 IKDC-SF), ACL Return Sport After Injury (ACL-RSI), Short-Form 12 (SF-12) physical mental health scales. Dependent age, participation cutting sports, number specific ligaments injured, any concurrent diagnoses. Results: A total 30 (25.9%) average follow-up 7.8 postoperatively (24 male, 6 female, 18.1±2.5 injury). Of cohort, 90% returned some level, while 43.3% higher. Participation sports significantly lower rate same (p=0.017). Higher IKDC-SF ACL-RSI scores (p=0.001 0.002, respectively). participated preoperatively demonstrated odds ratio (OR) returning athletic (OR=3.516 [1.034-11.955]; p=0.044). Number injury, diagnosis, SF-12 not statistically significant change MCL injuries trended toward than two- three-ligament involving PCL and/or LCL, but (50% vs. 25%, p=0.225). Conclusions: high percentage MLKI, less half previous level. Those participating likely pre-injury MLKI. OR reported IKDC-SF. There no difference those based scores, presence injury. Future studies will focus larger cohorts modifiable obtain functional sport. [Table: see text][Table: text]

Clinical outcome and return to sport after the surgical treatment of spondylolysis in young athletes.

We studied prospectively 22 young athletes who had undergone surgical treatment for lumbar spondylolysis. There were 15 men and seven women with a mean age of 20.2 years (15 to 34). Of these, 13 were professional footballers, four professional cricketers, three hockey players, one a tennis player and one a golfer. Preoperative assessment included plain radiography, single positron-emission CT, ...

Return to sport after total or unicompartmental knee arthroplasty

Knee arthroplasty survival rate - either UKA or TKA - is currently 95%, greater than it was ten years ago, but has not been specifically evaluated in very active patients practicing sport at a high intensity. The terms and conditions of return to physical activities are decided by the surgeon, the rehabilitation or Sports Medicine doctor, who needs to make sure that postoperative rehabilitation ...

Return to Sport After Pediatric Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction and Its Effect on Subsequent Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury.

BACKGROUND Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) graft failure and contralateral ACL tears are more frequent in children and adolescents than adults. The reasons for higher subsequent injury rates in this population are incompletely understood. METHODS We analyzed a continuous cohort of patients who were <18 years of age. Subjects underwent isolated, primary ACL reconstruction with autograft betwe...

Increased Compliance With Supervised Rehabilitation Improves Functional Outcome and Return to Sport After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in Recreational Athletes

BACKGROUND Successful return to sport is an important outcome measure after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and a reason for patients' decisions to elect surgery. Rehabilitation programs supervised by physical therapists are routinely prescribed after ACL reconstruction surgery. However, the added advantage of supervised physical therapy after ACL reconstruction is still debatab...
